There are rumors that her interest in research is perhaps a bit too unhealthy or even creepy, and her intentions are more sinister than benevolent. It's also rumored that she's so interested in the Philosopher's Stone because she wants to become an Other and that she thinks the stone will help her with that.

History: Lucia was born as the fourth child of the Cosimo family, a fact that she will be quick to bring up if treated too much like a child (being the older twin totally counts). While her brothers were learning how to run the store and her older sister making a nuisance of herself on the streets, she was a quiet, obedient child who observed the world through wide brown eyes. Lucia spent her time inspecting any product that came through her parents' store, playing with what was allowed.
If she were honest, she doesn't remember too much of her early childhood years when things were golden and her family had money. What she remembered the most was her father going out too much at night, huge men visiting, hearing conversations about not enough money, and her father's death. She remembered her mother working herself ragged to support all of them, and the next part she remembered vividly.
The part when her brother messed everything up and screwed them all over. That is seared into her memory. Getting booted out of her childhood home and watching her mother become frail with stress were great reasons for the growing resentment against her oldest brother. Watching her family scrape and scrounge and depend on other people to survive festered even more bitterness towards her brother's selfishness. It was the last straw when he sold off their store and home without any consideration to the family that when Dee found and arrested him years later, she felt no remorse. He deserved it.
Meanwhile, in order to lessen the stress on her mother and second oldest brother, Lucia decided to join the Golden Hour at age 15. She had always been a little more than decent at her studies (when they could afford to have lessons), and she had always been interested in the way things worked. It was a good solution, and she had been thinking of joining the Hour for a while. It was just a matter of when. Lucia thought she could try to help out at home first.
In the Hour, as a Neophyte, with the first Adept she shadowed, she realize her fondness for lab experiments. The different reactions that happened were super cool (even if she didn't understand most of them...). This experience solidified that joining the Golden Hour was the right decision. She threw herself into her studies and focused extremely hard on them. She wasn't the most brilliant of students or scientists, but she was on her way.
Somewhere along the way among reading all the books she could get her hands on, her interest switched from plants and medicine to something more theoretical. Reading about the Philosopher's Stone sparked her interest, and now she was determined to do her job as an alchemist-slash-chemist and try and produce one! With Belief about and with Others trickling in, there was no way to say it would or should be an impossible task. Well, it'll be one of her goals if she's ever promoted to Adept, anyway. She has less than a year to go...! (Hopefully.)
Personality: One way to describe Lucia is that she likes to observe. Scientifically, of course. She views things in a pretty empirical sense. While it's not quite she has to see it to believe it, what with Belief and all the Others, she is more comfortable with things she can truly observe. With the tendency to observe things in a scientific sense, it may make her come off as a little odd.
Outside of being scientifically-minded, Lucia is generally affable if you can keep her interest. She can be friendly and spirited when engaged, but if you overstep any boundaries that she is uncomfortable with, she will tell you point-blank. Lucia can also be very emphatic once she gets emotional or enthuses about something. It is easy to set her off into happiness or anger if you push the right buttons (expect exclamation points, caps, bold, etc.). Most of her anger is blustering and being indignant, however, unless you bring up gambling and anything to remind her of her oldest brother (and maybe her father).
She has a lot of pent up hidden hatred and bitterness towards her oldest brother and gambling. She won't tell you you can't and she'll be okay with you if it's really just a hobby, but if you do it too much or are addicted, she'll be extremely prejudiced against you. It's just behavior she hasn't learned how to excuse yet, not that she even thinks it's something that should be excused.

Appearance: Lucia is not as short as her sister, but she is by no means tall. She's not one who's too terribly concerned with her appearance. Her clothes are usually wrinkled or covered in some kind of dust (from books or from experimenting). Her blond hair is usually mussed and disheveled, and she usually keeps it tied or pushed back from getting into her eyes. If she tried, she could probably look very pretty. However, one redeeming features is her smile, which lights up her face and is adorable.
It should be noted that she does take care when she first dresses for the day. She is neat at the beginning of the day; she just stops to care as the day progresses and she gets into her activities.
