What a wonderful snow day~
I got let out of school early yesterday, and now a snow day. My dad heard my alarm go off and just called out "You have a snow day" so I slept for two more hours. So nice, I actually feel rested on a week day! I just hope we don't have to make this up at the end of the year...not that it'll matter because by then we'll just be studying for finals anyways. XD
I've decided that it's time for some much needed loving on Psyren! *stares at icon* Chapter 108 was just too awesome (the new characters are so cool!). Plus it feels like it gets overlooked a lot, since it's serialized in the same magazine as One Piece, Naruto and Bleach. ;_; I think it would probably be described as sci-fi.
So, I could write some really lame sounding summary, but instead I'll use pictures. Much more fun! :D Starting with characters...
Blue hair: Yoshina Ageha, the protagonist. Starts out as a high school student who will take care of your problems, ranging from beating up some stalkers to finding your lost cat, as long as you pay him. That all changes when he follows his classmate Amamiya Sakurako to a strange place called "Psyren", inhabited by creatures called "Tavoo" that have this thing about killing people. He can be funny, but also very serious. AKA don't fuck with him or he can very literally erase your existence. Yes this is a crappy description because I kind of suck at them.
Orange/Brown hair: Asaga Hiryuu, I suppose he's the secondary male character. Used to be a short and pathetic kid who Ageha picked on, until they met again as teenagers and besides almost getting killed together, Hiryuu pointed out that he is now, ah, quite a bit taller than Ageha. But besides that, Hiryuu has a pretty strong sense of loyalty, as well as being very physically strong. Ageha and him meet up again the first time they both go to Psyren.
Two pics of her because the first one is not my favorite of her, but the second one makes her seem like only a fanservice character.
Amamiya Sakurako: The female lead. Once a cheerful girl, she became cold and secretive, and is avoided by the rest of their class. And then Ageha follows her to Psyren and finds out that hey she has been here a lot and it kind of sucks. Starts out the most badass of all the main characters, but Ageha has started to surpass her...well he is the main character. Still, she's fricken awesome. There's a scene in the beginning when she's the only one who can control her PSI (that's what they call their powers) and all the guys watch while she fights. So cool.
The inevitable bishonen! Mochizuki Oboro, a famous actor who almost gets killed when he tries to reveal information about Psyren, and then ends up going there. Along with two other guys, he has a power most commonly given to the girl of the group (describing it like that because it leaves very few guesses as to what it is). Somewhat selfish, he was bored with life until he went to Psyren and stuff became "interesting". He also really likes Ageha. Take this as "this guy helps make my life interesting" or something else. XD He's still a good guy despite being selfish though (and I'd really like more on wtf happened to him since we last saw him. Same with Hiryuu and...other spoiler guy).
Kirisaki Kabuto, the reluctant member of the group who really prefers running away to fighting. The first time we see him he's trying to lie his way out of being beaten up for flirting with some guy's girlfriend, and when they believe him he jumps over a wall and says "Just kidding!" Hmm, he's also kind of selfish, because he just wants to live a comfortable life (preferably with a lot of money XD). But this is only at first, he gets awesome (though not quite in terms of fighting yet).
So these 5 are called the "Drifters" and they're the main characters.
From left to right: Frederica, Marie, Shao, Ageha, Kyle, and Van. They are a bunch of really powerful kids (well...except Ageha since he's not a kid. and they're the ones who train him at one point).
Results of the first popularity poll. Wow that's a big picture. Guy with the sunglasses is Kagetora.
Yeah...looking at the text it's kinda obvious these are some of the bad guys, but some of the names are spoilers (actually this pic is taken from the latest chapter).
There are other really cool characters too, and for a time travel story the author really seems to know what he's doing with it. I know this description doesn't really give a good idea of what the plot is about, sorry. But I love Psyren and besides wanting to show it some way, I really want to try and get others to read it. So please consider giving it a try, I highly recommend it! :D
