Like the rest of the country we are covered in snow at the moment - not as bad as many places but still enough to freeze your bits off.
Spoke to my eldest who lives in Holland and he tells me that we are the laughing stock of Europe the way we collapse at the first hint of snow. They get it as bad, if not a bit worse, than us but Dutch drivers just use snow chains and keep on driving and Schiphol Airport is running as normal. I don't understand why airports can't have under-runway heating - it seems to work for premiership football clubs. Considering how many millions they say Heathrow has lost I would have thought some form of heating would be cost-effective.
Apparently we are also a joke for the way we stick to all the 'elf and safety diktats from Brussels. The idea that a policeman or technician has to have a health and safety course before they can go up a 3-step ladder to change parts in a speed camera is giving much hilarity.
Went into Manchester t week-end and met up with some RA friends. We had a nice lunch and a lovely natter but I was surprised at how quiet city centre Manchester was, considering it was a Saturday, perhaps the crunch is beginning to have effect.
