I've noticed that similar types can breed during my time working in the Center.

[ Just a second, freeing her writing hand to jot that down. ] Like water types with other water types? [ Now that he mentions it, her Gible was from a breeding between a Charizard and a Garchomp. Charizard wasn't an ACTUAL dragon type and Garchomp wasn't fire either, how did that work? ]

There must be some kind of grouping outside of just the element types...

If you are in Goldenrod then you can come by the PokeCenter and I will have Nurse Joy take the time to help you. She is usually very willing to help Trainers and Breeders with such things.
