100 Books: Book 7- "The Last Olympian"

Yay, I read another book.

Anyway, this review is destined to be brief because this Book Number Seven is the last of a series which I have already reviewed and basically I've said all I wanted to say about the series in general. But onward we go!

The Last Olympian is the final book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, although now there are spin-offs which I have to collect and read. As stated in the last review, in which I discussed two prior books in the series, I do like these books. They're fun and energetic and, while not exactly complex, you do get emotionally invested and it makes you think a little bit. In the series, this big final battle between the Big Bad and the good guys has been brewing for ages and it finally all explodes into wonderful battles in the midst of New York City. Considering I'm a little more than familiar with that particular locale, it really did grip me and I was able to imagine everything nicely.

I forget if I mentioned this, but all the titles in this series are all rather literal. (Considering both The Villain Academy and Survivor Radio have ridiculously literal titles, I probably shouldn't talk.) The first book, The Lightning Thief, revolves mainly around a thief of lightning. Sea of Monsters takes place largely in the aforementioned Sea of Monsters. The Titan's Curse has a Titan's curse. The action in The Battle of the Labyrinth leads up to what is later named "the battle of the Labyrinth." And then The Last Olympian names one of the old Greek gods as the last Olympian. In fact, a line of dialogue is "I am the Last Olympian" and I went "OHHHHH GUYS IT'S LIKE THE TITLE. I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE."

It was a fitting end to the series. When I finished my brother asked me what I thought, but all I could manage was "EVERYTHING IS PERFECT AND BEAUTIFUL BAWWWW I WANT MORE" Although my brother is a little shit because he told me something happened at the end that didn't actually happen, and when I called him out he laughed at me for buying his bullshit like two years ago when he first told me before I had even read the back flap of the book. Hmph.
