I'm glad to say that, after fall '05, I'm getting the hell up out of Virginia. It's been fun and all, but i'm so sick of southerners, I could vomit. I will miss the feigned hospitality (i.e. I'll be nice to you until I find out you're gay). And I will especially miss the stupid ass white girls in my classes who say things like, 'I am definitely not a feminist' with an air of arrogance, before they even know the definition of feminism, because they learned in church that feminism is against god's will. I'm so sick of members of the lgbt community getting hate-crimed, and the door of the LGBTA office being vandalized by the Campus Bible Fellowship (yup, I called you out..) without a drop of concern from the administration. I'm especially sick of attending a university whose president sent a check for 2,000 dollars to the George W. Bush campaign from the Office of the President of Virginia Tech. I'm really just sick of feeling like I attend an all-white, all-Christian university, especially since it was marketed to me as being 'diverse and inclusive'. I can't wait to get back to the north, where education is valued above all else. (Yes, even above hunting season.. gasp..) Kudos to my liberal brothers and sisters who are staying in the south to try and change it, but as soon as possible, i'm outta here..
(also, vote for Tim Kaine for Virginia Governor because Kilgore is a bigot and bigotry is unacceptable in 2005.. thanks)
