Six months!

Jan 01, 2011 09:57

I missed the five-month update and I'm late on six months. Lily turned six months Dec. 26. How did that happen? It seems like forever and a blink of the eye at the same time.

1. Baby Name and Age:
Lily Elizabeth, six months, 1 week

2. Weight/length/clothing size being worn?
12 pounds, 15 ounces on Wednesday at her six-month checkup (15th percentile). 24 inches, which is 2 inches in two months. She's moving into six month clothes but still wearing some three month stuff.

3. Food?
Breast milk mostly, but we've started baby led weaning. Her first food was a slice of clementine at about 5.5 months. She ripped it right out of my hand and shoved it in her mouth. I said, "Well, I guess we're eating." We've tried avocado, carrots, mashed potatoes, a slice of apple, one green bean, banana and sweet potato. Banana seems to be the favorite.

4. Sleep habits?
Most of the time we do OK, but sometimes (like last night), she's up every hour. She goes to bed around 6:30-7 in her crib and usually wakes up about an hour later, just needing her pacifier and a few pats. Wakes up around 11 (hopefully) when I go to bed. We co-sleep the rest of the night. Two naps most days. The next challenge is to get her to go back to the crib after the 11 p.m. nursing. I'm trying to gear myself up for that battle.

5. Any "changing table" issues?
The yeast rash that will not die. Got more of the prescription cream and the nurse practitioner recommended tea tree oil in the bath, so we're trying that. It doesn't seem to bother her, but it looks so angry sometimes. Poor babe.

6. Milestones:
The nurse practitioner declared that Lily is a 9-month-old in a petite 6-month-old body. She's sitting up on her own and crawling. Crawling! Craziness.

7. What's driving you crazy, if anything?
The nights she wakes up every hour. Last night I gave in and nursed her around 9:30 (third waking of the night), and she stayed down until we came to bed around 12:30. I've been trying to make sure she nurses off both sides before putting her down, but that didn't seem to help last night.

The other thing is that I suddenly have stopped producing well for the pump. I thought maybe that meant my period was coming back, but it's been about two weeks and no sign of it. It stresses me out. Any advice on increasing pump production?

8. How are you doing in general?
I've loved having family here over the holidays. My brother and his girlfriend flew in from California for about a week and my parents drove up from North Carolina on Tuesday and are here for about a week. Of course, this makes me horribly depressed about the holidays ending and having to go back to real life. I'm trying to enjoy the present and let the future take care of itself, but that's really hard for me.

9. Are your health concerns going well?
I'm actually in size 8 pants, which I never thought would happen again. I'm a little afraid of what's going to happen when Lily weans, but that's a ways down the road.
