Back from New York

Work has been pretty crazy, even though event-wise we are actually pretty slow.  December is looking slim.  Our Sales Manager had her baby girl on Tuesday.  The baby was 2 1/2 weeks early, but mom and baby are both doing well.  That started her maternity earlier than expected, and my coworker had the flu last week, so I was running around like crazy last week.  But I did have a get away in New York the past weekend.

My mom is visiting from Taiwan, so I went up to New York to spend some time with her.  It was a nice ladies weekend with mom, aunt and my sister.  I flew up last Friday (gosh I can't believe that was a week ago already!), and came back on Tuesday night.  While I was up there, I went and got a haircut and highlights.  I got red strips in my hair!  I love it.  :)  The cut is nothing drastic, just a trim really.  I kind of want to cut my hair shorter, but it took me so long to grow it long that I'm not willing it cut it yet.  We also went to see Mamma Mia!  That was a lot of fun.  I thought it would be cheesy, because it's Abba music.  Well, I guess it was cheesy, but I enjoyed it.  :)  At the end of the show, after the cast was applauded, they came back out and did a mini concert with a few of the songs.  That was fun.  Eveyrbody liked it.

My sister is renting a room in a house in Woodside.  Tuesday was her birthday, and on Monday night we went to have dinner with her in her neighborhood and went to see her room.  Her house is very close to the subway station, so it's convenient (but noisy!).  Her room was bigger than I thought.  It's kind of cute.  We met some of her housemates, they seemed nice, so that's good.  After dinner we went back to her room to have birthday cake.  I'm glad we were all there to celebrate her birthday with her.  She just turned 28, but in my mind she seems younger than that.  Not because she can't take care of herself, but I guess because I'm older, I always think she's still little.  That's probably how my parents see us, too.

As always, my trip to New York felt too short.  Never enough time to eat all the good food I want, or do all the things I want to do.

It's really cold today.  It was cold in New York, too.  But it was more acceptable to me because I was in New York.  There's something about winters in NYC.
