Log: A Milder Interrogation

Summary:  June interrogates Skinner right after this scene.
Location:  The Lucky Seven, Ista Weyr

It doesn't take June long to come to reclaim her room from the lazing trader. Without so much as a knock, she breezes on in and closes the door behind her, which might be a fun new development were it not for the irritation thrumming beneath her composure. She lets him have the first word, near-inevitable as it is, and even fashions an indulgent smile for it, but then she comes right out and demands, "What was all that about?"

Aw, man! Skinner was starting to get all cozy in his stolen bed, having inched down so he's no longer propped up against the headboard. He's still on top of the covers - the bed's rightful owner would never know! - but his eyes are closed and he seems reluctant to open them even when he hears June come in. "You couldn't even give me a half hour?" is his inevitable, wistful first word. Tucking his hands up under his cheek, he closes his eyes again and smiles at her from this restful pose. "Some guy that K'aus has a beef with."

June leans, with one hand on the doorknob, the other propped gracefully on her hip. "Same guy he had a beef with earlier?" she asks with an inquiring eyebrow. Surely everyone knows that story by now, she refers to it in a general sense without alluding to Skinner's inside information.

"Oh, yeah - the one from the docks," Skinner replies, nodding his head just a bit, not enough to disturb his rest. "I know him from all the black market stuff," which she'll remember. "We go way back."

"Ah," June utters for this new information, letting her gaze drop away from Skinner's for only a moment. "What's K'aus want with him?" she asks, returning to that same, straightforward manner, expression blank except for her slightly thinned eyes.

Skinner opens his eyes for this one, meeting her gaze when it returns to him. He shrugs one shoulder. "Revenge, I guess? He didn't really specify. But he wants to meet up with some guys," he pops his eyebrows significantly, "here later, so maybe you can get it out of him."

June ponders the bits of information Skinner's surrendered, a bit of a knit appearing between her brows in some attempt to sort them or fill in the gaps. "Alright," she utters, erasing the frown and lightening her demeanor significantly simply by smoothing her voice. There's a tiny throat clearing to conclude the process. "Now, get out of that bed, unless you plan on paying for it." Her hand lifts from her hip and flicks a gesture at the door, indicating the direction he should move.

Now it's Skinner's turn to knit his brow, and while he's at it, pout up his lips and widen his eyes. "Aw, c'mon, June - half an hour!" he pleads, scrunching up his body in a reluctant ball. "That's half an hour I won't be drinking your free beer and bothering," he considers - who did he see working the bar today? - "Chiri."

June tilts her chin down and looks at him from that confronting angle while she lets out a slow breath. She's so not in the mood. "You couldn't drink enough beers in half an hour to make up for what this room could make me." Is that a challenge? It seems like there might be a hint of it in there, though tiresomely added. Cue an echo of that gesture. Out.

A smile starts to creep up Skinner's lips as that challenge unwinds itself before him, and so when she flicks her hand at him, he jumps right off the bed like he doesn't even care about it anymore. "/Could/ make you isn't the same as /would/ make you, if it stays empty," he points out helpfully, slinging an arm over her shoulders as he walks past her at the door. Aren't they such good friends! She can come with him, tiresome attitude or not. "And I'm still going to bother Chiri." Which he will probably accomplish very quickly, for as soon as he gets to the top of the stairs - visible to the bar again, with June suggestively either at his side or trailing him - his arms shoot up and he declares, "Pints for everyone! On me!" Such. An ass.
