2009: The Bad and the Good
Well, maybe it's a little early to be doing a year's end review, since my birthday hasn't even passed yet. But I'm a little bored and because of my ridiculous obsession with tumblr.com, I've been neglecting L. :O Shame on me.
However, between that, work and the quickly-moving scriptwriting class I've got (we just filmed a short video yesterday; they made me the boom operator, haha), I really haven't had much time to go on the comp with the exception of the graphic design projects I'm working on with my work supervisor, Bao. Anyway.
Really bad things that happened in 2009
- I broke my pink Skullcandy headphones that I received as a present from Elmar -_-;
- I got that really gross, infected rash all over my body in March-April
- Patrick and I got into a fight HUGE enough for me to include here
- I broke my red Skullcandy headphones that I'd bought from HMV after a month. -_-;;
- By then, realized I'd accumulated an extra 20 pounds on me since graduation in 2006 (although everyone said it wasn't noticeable; apparently, I've very proportioned despite the extra weight)
- Lost my pink ZenStone MP3 player
- I got that rash again during my summer vacation to the States, waah! Didn't go away until the middle of September
- Wracked up a huge bill for my cellphone while in the States over the summer
- Had three wisdom teeth removed; face swelled up a bit but eating was such a bitch
- That rash appeared very very briefly on my face, which made my eye swell up for 1-2 weeks, and has forced me to let my eyebrow piercing out. There is also the faintest scarring, an almost barely-there shadow of where it was, from the middle of my eyebrown down my right temple, permanently on my face. This happened at the same time as the removal of my wisdom teeth. -_-;;;
- The cord to attach my phone to my computer is fucked up, and now I can't change my playlist
- Young's has gone gay on me with my work hours; I might not even have enough for decent Christmas presents for everyone this year, let alone international card exchange with my LJ friends as I am barely making 30 hours a paycheck
- Twilight and New Moon. UERGH
- My domain, kuchiki-hime.org, is currently suspended and I don't think I have enough funds to get it back up before it expires
- I accidentally got really drunk yesterday when I put a little too much vodka in my 7Up; felt really dizzy and close to vomitting, but sobered up in less than an hour so it wasn't that bad...
Really good things that happened in 2009
- Bought the Wii for the Animal Crossing game Patrick bought for me Christmas '08 (that's right)
- Realized that my dad and I have started getting along better since I left home in '06
- Popped M for the first time with my sister and Patrick during the beginning of summer (though this may be arguable, but it was definitely enjoyable)
- Hung out with Sora down in the exchange district for dinner, before going to her PrairieView photography school exhibit
- Started hanging out with my DMCI friends more
- Started hanging out with my Maples friends more -- and Devin started to have a lot of parties during this time...
- Ergo, I got a lot closer to a lot of my friends, including Frodo
- Had my annual summer BBQ and zoo romp at Assinoboine Park with with my DMCI and my Maples friends; it was funny, like seeing a crossover of my two favorite TV shows or something
- Things got interesting between myself, Patrick and Frodo one hot summer day after a weekend of drug-fueled partying... <3 And thus, continued
- Got my dad and little sister obsessed with Bleach
- Went to Florida with my family for the summer, by car, stopping along some amazing sights there and back including the TAMPA BAY AQUARIUM, KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, and ST LOUIS ARC, and -- although not a landmark, certainly awesome enough to make the list -- the Oprey Mills mall in Nashville, Tennessee
- Saw my uncle, who lives in Florida, again for the first time after 9-10 years; saw my grandparents again after a year; met my auntie and little cousin for the first time; met my (forgive me, but rather creepy although very generous) auntie Cynthia and her son for the first time
- Got to go to Hot Topic after two years of pining for a decent punk store
- Went to DISNEYWORLD
- Went to UNIVERSAL STUDIOS
- Spent a weekend out of town for a friend's wedding; felt rather beautiful then
- Started two new college classes: Scriptwriting and Final Cut Pro
- (A good thing and a huge example of just how obsessed my dad is with Bleach:) My dad burned me a copy of the third Bleach movie on DVD after downloading it for himself
- I became more environmentally aware
- Lost 15 pounds and 2-3 inches, also went from a 34 C to a 36 D! WTF? :O
- Had a Halloween party
- Become a pot head (again, arguable but enjoyable)
- Got addicted to tumblr.com
- During the time I had a rash on my face, my mom took me to the hospital to get it looked at; she spent 5 hours just for me, sitting in the lobby
- Bought underwear cute enough to mention here
- Learned how to make really fancy red velvet cupcakes, and made a batch for my mom on her birthday
- Got Frodo AND his mum obsessed with Yu Yu Hakusho and/or Bleach
- Has seen A LOT of really good movies this year: Sunshine, Dogma, Eastern Promises, Good Will Hunting, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Kite, Coraline, etc etc...
- Finished two scripts
- Was hired to redesign a company's flyer and three product ads + photography
- Got my work supervisor, Bao's, cell phone number ^o^;; -- for work-related talk of course!
- Had a good taste of how it feels to be on a movie set as we filmed a short video in my college class, complete with lighting, audio equipment + boom pole, film cameras, etc.
- Winter was late this year
- Discovered that I actually have a huge collection of interesting leggings, tights and fishnet stockings, as well as many punkish and elegant arm warmers/gloves, in the back of my dresser drawers
As you can see, I'm very grateful for my life. My good list is longer than my bad list, therefore I am a very lucky person. I am grateful. And there's still a month left! I'm hoping for more good things:
- My paycheck (hehe), tomorrow hopefully
- Seeing my ad designs being used in two different store locations
- My birthday and all related parties/druken romps (hopefully my family will take me out to The Keg -- hehe, STEAK~!!)
- Movie: The Lovely Bones
- Christmas and all related parties/drunken romps
- New Years and all related parties/drunken romps
- Movie: A Single Man
