Personality: Chell's main defining personality trait is that she's stubborn. Her file says that "she never gives up. Ever." This is evident in both Portal and Portal 2, she completes every test chamber and challenge thrown her way without ever once stopping and giving up. Even when faced with certain death, Chell still manages to find her way out.

Her stubbornness also manifests in the fact that no matter how much GLaDOS and Wheatley talk to her, she never responds. She never rises to their insults and never chimes in on ideas for plans. This has lead to Wheatley believing she is brain-damaged and GLaDOS thinking she is a mute. Neither is true, she just doesn't want to give them the satisfaction of a response.

Going hand in hand with her tenacity, Chell wants to survive. She will do nearly anything to keep on living, be it incinerate her Companion Cube, defeat an AI or two, team up with an enemy, and hang on and live after being briefly flung out to the surface of the moon. GLaDOS even remarks that she is rather hard to kill.

Because she's been trapped in Aperture so long, she's been deprived of human contact and many comforts and needs. Another side effect of her adventures is that she doesn't immediately trust anyone and it will take a while for her to warm up to any given person. She's also not especially fond of robots, given her encounters with the ones in Aperture, but they can win her over, it might just take longer.

Chell can get over past grudges, if it means the only way she'll survive. That doesn't mean she has to like it though, and can find her own way to express her displeasure without actually talking, like when she stabbed the potato that GLaDOS was stuck in with the portal gun. This did two things, one, it gave an easy way to cart GLaDOS around and two, it gave her some satisfaction of a tiny amount of revenge on the computer that had tried to murder her multiple times.

Chell always keeps her cool, she never talks back to GLaDOS or Wheatley, no matter how much they may try to goad her and she never panics. Even when faced with deadly neurotoxin or other fatal things, Chell figures out a plan and sticks to it until her goal is reached.

She's smart enough to avoid dangerous traps, such as the goo or the turrets, and can solve any test thrown her way, given enough time. Chell is clever and creative and isn't afraid to try new things, she will experiment with the tools she's given until she finds a solution or a way out.
Abilities: Chell is athletic and can do fancy jumps and flips. She's good at solving puzzles, or at least sticks with it until she can figure out the solution.
