We still haven't heard anything from Spirit. This isn't a huge surprise, but it's frustrating. Oh well. Patience is a virtue, right? I guess the Universe is giving me the opportunity to practice all that patience. So be it.

On Friday, we got a last minute email from one of Rhett's really good friends down in Wichita. She asked that we go to a charity event for the local zoo with her and tons of her friends. FREE TICKETS (that are worth about $125 a piece!) This means tons of free food, tons of free booze, good live music, and friends? Sign us up! So on Saturday we packed up the kids, dropped them off at my parent's house, and then took ourselves out for an evening. We had an amazing time. So. Much. FUN. All the folks that we hung out with were lesbians. I mean ALL of them (save for a spare queen here and there.) Is it politically incorrect for me to say that I love hanging out with gay people in general? As a group, they tend to be so accepting. Come as you are! Be who you are! We'll love you anyway! I DID get to hear a lot about the virtues of being vegetarian and what a good pair of comfortable shoes can do for you, but no one made fun of me for being a little on the girlie side or the fact that I ate half a side of beef all by myself. (Yes, only a bit of exaggeration there.) But, still. It was nice. I felt accepted. We had a great time. So. THIS is what it's like to have a social life! I'd totally forgotten. For reals.

Of course, all that partying had a price. We got back to my parent's house VERY late. I hardly slept a wink (their guest room is nice, but not particularly comfy.) Ella and the dog promptly woke up at 6 am. Ella was super crabby. All that really does equal disaster. Oh well. We got home in one piece. We all survived. And all the Saturday fun was absolutely worth the cluster you-know-what on Sunday. :)
