Ella's Happy 3rd Birthday!
As promised, here are the pics!
For some reason, the green bird was Ella's absolute favorite part.
As a mother, how in the world could I resist posting a photo with THIS much cheese? *sneaking it in there*
I can almost hear her thoughts out loud, "Dear God, or Baby Jesus, or Santa Claus, or whoever; PLEASE let my birthday wish come true!"
Y'all, Ella was sooooo enamored with this cake. I swear, she spent a good 20 minutes looking at it from all angles. She was running around the room, squealing like... well... a little girl. It was hilarious to watch. And truly, I wasn't sure she'd care at all about the cake. I thought she might be too young. Apparently (and thankfully,) I couldn't have been more wrong. And I must say, there's nothing better in the whole wide world than hearing your 3 yr old say, with true enthusiasm, "Mommy, you MADE it! It's my cake! I LOVE it! Mommy, I love you!" while simultaneously doing a big ol' happy dance and hugging my leg with all her might. This was truly one of those days were I was happy to be someone's mommy.
And for the record, the style of the birds/flowers/etc. isn't 100% my own. I used some of my cousin's art (she's a pottery artist, painter, muralist, etc.) for inspiration, and then put my own spin on it. When my cousin saw the photos, she was insanely excited and gushed about the cake. It feels kinda good to have an artist rave about your work, ya know? :)
