Cake day
Ella's birthday party is tomorrow, so today is cake day.
I have to say that I'm not enjoying cakes as much anymore. The biggest reason? I feel like I have to top myself every time. Believe it or not, it's a lot of pressure. So, I can't make a half-ass cake. No, ma'am. It has to be bigger and better and more spectacular than the one before. I also must say that I'm pretty sure I don't have MORE spectacular in me. Instead, I only have "about as good as the other ones" kind of spectacular. *sigh* Oh well. Folks (especially my children) will just have to get over their disappointment that I will not be making a 3 ft. high monstrosity that will take me 5 days to do, invovle endless amounts of cursing, and feed 300 people. Nope. It will be a smallish, 2-tier cake with little bits and bobs on it. That's it. There will be no flashing lights or moving parts. Just cake. And it will just have to be good enough. Besides, isn't there something precious about a small cake that has adorable details? I sure think so.
