Today I learned that divorce was banned in Malta up untill today, when a referendum resulted in the official legalising of divorce.
This past week has taught me that I can now definitively state that alcohol makes me feel all super nice for a couple of hours, but leads to unbelievable energy crashes on the following day. Energy crashes that lead to 10-11 hours of sleeping in a single night.
V wants to go ride up an Alp in August. This all sounds very nice, but I had to point out the dark cloud to which this golden lining is attached by highlighting the visa procedures I will have to endure to make it happen. It's not *major*, but it is a pain in the butt involving a €60 fee, getting numerous letters and documents together, booking in an appointment with the people who facilitate the visa application (this sort of thing is not done by the consulate of the country anymore - apparently "to streamline the application process") and taking a day off work. I have asked (and I raised this before the Alp suggestion) that we go to the north coast of Devon for surfing mid-September. We are going, of course. Driving down to Devon will be much less of a taxing journey so I'm looking forward to that. We want to take our bikes to France so that'll be another thing we'll have to sort out. We also only want to go for a weekend. I just don't like holidays that seem like they're going to involve a fair amount of stress. So I'm letting V organise this. Once he's got things sorted, we can go ahead and book tickets so I can get my visa application rolling.
I'm kind of sad that I have to go back to work tomorrow. I created a nice long weekend for myself by taking Friday and Monday off. But I positively cannot afford to take more time off right now. I feel a bit like I'm in the Titanic, except I *know* we're heading for an ice-berg.
