If you know me on various forums, you'll see this a few times. BECAUSE I AM EXCITE!
We're going to the opera on Saturday. Thank goodness I was on my way to the physio this morning, radio on the ever-steady Radio 4, because there is something AMAZING being done at the Royal Opera House and it's the best thing I could ever have as a birthday present.
We're going to see this:
"Following on from last Season’s success, ROH2 has commissioned a further exciting array of composers and writers to tackle head on what opera is and what it might become in the 21st century. These new OperaShots come from names famous outside the world of opera, with unexpected subjects and novel approaches. The Tell-Tale Heart brings together Edgar Allan Poe’s gothic horror and ex-Police drummer Stewart Copeland, while The Doctor's Tale, from composer Anne Dudley (The Full Monty, The Art of Noise) and librettist Terry Jones (Monty Python), unveils a Python-esque story of a doctor whose devoted patients rush to the rescue after he is forced to stop practising. Breaking the mold is what these brand new shots at opera are all about: come and find out how they hit their targets."
There's something very very special about The Doctor's Tale, but I haven't told Vince yet and so I'm keeping it very hush-hush. It is going to be BRILLIANT. I've only been to the opera once before (back in SA), but this is the Royal Opera House...!!!! \o/
