I was reading 1984 [for the 40th time] on the bus, when some kid sits in front of me, and asks, "Hey, whatcha readin'?"
I replied with "1984" and explained to him that it was a wonderful book that he should read.
Then, seeming remotely interested, he asks, "What's it about?"
So, I give him a brief overview of the book.
He looks at me with this cumbersome expression on his face, and replies, "Who reads?"
