Coming down with a bit of a cold wasn't fun, especially for someone who had just gotten over a Nexus LOL. Fortunately it wasn't too bad of a cold. Starfire decided that it would just be best to stay in the Tower and to keep warm as much as she can. And it also meant that she would be making a lot of homemade, Tamaranean foods to try and fight the ( Read more... )

One of these days, Terra would have to get Cy to install a TV in her room. On those lazy days when she didn't want to do anything but stay in bed and watch sappy romantic soaps, it would have come in handy. As it stood, Terra had to head to the common room to check out the boob tube.

And when she got there, well, things could have been said about her choice of synonyms for television. But at least she had something to stop her from heading to The Restless and the Senile or whatever was on. "Hey, Star. 'sup? You making some more awesome Tamaranean stuff?"

"Indeed, I am, Terra," Starfire managed to squeak out. Oh crap. She wasn't losing her voice, was she? Well, that was just great timing. Her voice just seemed to wait until Terra came in and asked her a question. "Although I am sad to say that it is not as 'awesome' as one would hope. I have come down with a touch of something and this food should be able to aid me in getting rid of-"

She glanced away and looked down to the ground to sneeze, avoiding sneezing on any of the food that she had in front of her, or around Terra. "... This cold," she finished her statement.

Aqualad entered from the side entrance, carrying a cup of coffee with him. He blinked upon saw the two girls in there, not surprised so much as acknowledging their presence.

"Hello Star, Terra," he said. "... You don't look all that well Star. You come down with something?"

"I have, Aqualad. I think it is what you call a 'cold,' and I am sure that it will pass quickly," she said, before taking a quick taste of the food she was preparing--and shuddering a bit, reminding herself that she had forgotten to add an important ingredient--and continued, "But it is very annoying."

"Ah... is that a Tamaranean remedy?" he said, looking at the bowl. He was suddenly reminded of earthborne remedies... and quietly decided to keep several Atlantean methods to himself.

She nodded. "It is meant to clear your body of any strange things that are in your body when you are ill. It also avoids any of the sinuses from getting infected," Starfire explained as she added another ingredient to the bowl and mixed some more.

He takes a seat, sipping his coffee. "It sounds like a better idea than Chicken Soup, except maybe not as good to eat. But then, I don't personally care for it."

"I have tried Chicken Soup before and it does have its own unique taste. However I do not see how it takes care of colds," she said. She was curious about something, so she asked, "Do you care for other soups, or do you not personally care for all sorts? I am curious, since you do live in a body of water."

"I don't care for most soup, no. It's kinda... like eating dirty air for me, if that makes sense.

"And, uh... I think chicken soup helping colds is what's called 'an old wives' tale.'"

"'Old Wives' Tale? What is that term for?" she asked. Well! Aqualad, you got her attention. Now you're going to have to explain to her what that is.

"Ah. Um. It's a term for a rumor that lots of people seem to think is true, and doesn't seem to go away. The term comes from the fact that old wives use to pass those 'facts' around, I guess."

"Ah. We have that sort of term on Tamaran, but the terms are obviously quite different from each other," she said. "I did not think they would call it something like 'old wives', though."

Sips his coffee. An odd thing for him to be drinking considering what he just said, but he's drinking it more for the caffeine than the taste.

"Yeah, old sayings are weird sometimes."
