Faust shrugs the weight of the heavy sack off her shoulders, standing next to See-More, out in front of the entrance to the HIVE Five's hideout. The expression on her face was unreadable; she'd never planned to see this place again, and in fact, she'd been dreading it for a long time, and now here she was, a sackful of stolen goods in her hands, ( Read more... )

"Yep," he said, hanging onto his own sackful of goodies that he had stolen along with her, and he glanced over at her curiously, wondering if she felt nervous or if she really was all right. Deciding it was better not to question her, he reached out to the door to the hideout.

Ghost 'heard' See-More and Faust's thoughts from roughly a block away. Surprised that Faust had come, but pleasantly so, he paused from the work he was doing on his computer, and headed down to the kitchen. Thankfully, his fine wine was typically left alone in favour of beer (or simply non-alcoholic beverages), so there were more than enough to go around.

He carried three wine glasses between his fingers, and the bottle in his other hand.

He couldn't resist surprising them just a little bit, so he decided to let himself and the wine glasses and bottle all go invisible for the time being. Patiently, he waited for them to come inside.

Faust didn't waste any time, brushing past See-More as the door opened, slinging the sack back over her shoulder and sticking her free hand back in her jacket pocket. She took in the hideout, pausing a moment to savor the discomfort that came from her unfamiliarity with the surroundings. It was similar to the old place they'd had before she split, but still, it was a different place, and it was only fitting she'd be a different person when she entered it.

She slid the sack off her shoulder and onto the central table, leaving the goods still inside, as though the actual contents were an afterthought to the simple act of stealing them in the first place. "Hey, do we have anything to drink around here?" she says to See-More while she looks around, still trying to get used to the conflicting sensations of familiarity and difference she was feeling now that she was in the hideout.

"Funny you should ask," said Ghost, remaining invisible for a few more seconds before finally reappearing with the wine and the glasses. "I was thinking we might have a drink to celebrate your return."

Faust's face does its best imitation of a light bulb, and the only thing that stops her from dragging Ghost into a hug is the fact that he's holding wine glasses.

"Ghost!" She grins. "Didn't expect to run into you so soon, but then, I didn't expect to run into See-More so soon, either, and - well, one unexpected thing always seems to lead into another when I'm involved, these days, so I suppose I should have expected it, but I didn't." She takes her jacket off, tossing it next to the sack of stolen goods. "It's good to see you again."

Gizmo dropped down from the ceiling, suspended above by a tangled mass of wires.

"AUGH! These stupid messed up pieces of-!" He freezes, catching sight of something - or someone - out of the corner of his eye. He turns to his two teammates and Jinx, and... frowns. "Oh. It's you."

He hadn't really seen, or didn't explicity remember Jinx's current form, he couldn't remember, but he could tell who it was.

((should we have a posting order?))

And of course, where there was commotion being caused and he wasn't the one causing it, Mammoth wanted to know what the hell was going on. So soon he had joined Gizmo, Ghost, See-More, and... oh, great, who was this, a new recruit?

"Who're you?" he asked after a grumble. Either he didn't notice Ghost holding the wine or didn't care, because it didn't seem to connect in his head that this was some kind of celebration.

Faust puts her hands on her hips and looks up at Mammoth, grinning. She worries at her lower lip for a second, a silent laugh in her eyes.

"Hey there, big guy," Faust says, then reaches up to tap him on the chest. "The name's Faust." She laughs. "But you always used to call me Jinx." She steps back and waits for that revelation to sink in. It's Mammoth, so in his case, it might take a little while. She crosses her arms over her chest, smirking. She can be patient.

"Jinx?" He raises an eyebrow at her, still unsure. There weren't any pink horns. Or pink hair. Or the black-and-purple striped whatever. Or the eyes, or the face, or, uh. Anything. Except the voice. But still, voice did not the person make, or something. No way. "Who're you really?"

Ghost looked bemused. It was a pretty drastic physical change, but he'd gotten over it before Faust's new powers had even manifested.

"I did mention that Jinx had gone through some rather dramatic changes, right? The new look is one of them. Being the resident telepath, I can assure you that she's the real thing."

Glancing to Gizmo and to Mammoth, he remarked, "And it seems that I'll need more wine glasses."

"I just told you, idiot," Faust says, doing her best attempt at putting a little of Jinx's trademark snark and contempt into that "idiot". Perhaps the amused smile doesn't quite convey the same sense of irritation that a look of peevishness would, but that tone of voice is clear enough.

"The name is Faust. I'm not Jinx anymore. I can't go back to being her." She looks him right in the eyes, then turns to meet the eyes of everyone else in the room - yes, even Gizmo. "I mean, who else is going to remember that time Billy put his new suit in with the rest of the laundry and See-More's uniform came out pink and green, huh?"

She rubs her nose, looking perfectly innocent, except for an impish twinkle in her eyes.

He finally freed himself from his entanglement, and jumped down to the floor, crossing his arms. "... So, why'd you come back, Faust?"

And as soon as those words were out of his mouth, the memory of Brother Blood came to mind, and he looked down at the ground, frowning at himself.

"Because I owed it to you to come back." She folds her arms across her chest, looming over Gizmo impressively. "Or do you have a problem with that?" She growls.

Gizmo takes a step back, not making eye contact. "... Yeah. Ok. That's a good reason."

And he shuffled his feet, quite content to stand there and be quiet.

Faust bursts into laughter, smacking Gizmo on the side of his head. "Lighten up, Gizmo. I came by because it was the right time to come back, and I felt like seeing you all again. And besides, an avatar of the creative force of the universe can't randomly drop by whenever she feels like it?" She rubs the top of the inventor's head, perhaps a little too gleeful.

She's a lot more centered, a lot more in control and confident, than even Ghost has ever seen her before. When she ran away, she was just a scared little girl, even if she hid it well; now, the girl in front of the HIVE Five has grown up, grown sure of herself. As much as it's clear she still cares about them, it's questionable to what extent Faust still needs any of them to be happy.

Gizmo blinks, and flails at the smack and headrub. "HEY HEY HEY! No touch, Jinx! And yeah, I heard ya, but you're gonna have to earn that new nickname around here!"

Yeah, it doesn't take much to get Gizmo out of a funk and back to normal.
