GENERAL INFORMATION

Name: Emily
Age: 19

1. If you could have one job, what would it be?
Getting paid to do nothing. Since this is a radical and unlikely dream, I would love to work as a mental health liaison nurse in the emergency department. Since I happen to be studying mental health nursing, this kind of helps my agenda.

2. What are your four worst qualities?
1. I have an epic case of self-depreciation (considered by some to be a good thing).
2. I procrastinate like all hell.
3. I always have to get myself involved in other peoples' business.
4. I'm always fairly keen to start a fight over just about anything.

3. What are your four best qualities?
1. I'm always up for listening to others.
2. I'm very, very clean and neat.
3. GSOH. Well, according to others who laugh with me. Or at me. Haven't figured that out yet.
4. Loyal to my friends.

4. Describe yourself in five words or fewer.
Cynical, caring, honest, creative, loyal.

5. Describe your leadership style.
I'm happy to take suggestions from people about what is the best course of action and come up with a plan which will achieve the goal and hopefully keep everyone satisfied.

6. How do you think others would describe you?
Sarcastic; possibly belongs with the mental health patients she works with.

7. When under a lot of pressure, how do you manage it?
Fairly well. Since I work in a high-stress job already (undergrad. nurse in an intensive care at a mental health facility), I'm used to it. I tend to be able to keep my mind on the task and see through my jobs one at a time. I'm happy to accept help from others if it will help me finish my work thoroughly.

8. Pick one that describes you the best.
a. Introvert or Extrovert (self-motivated or action/people-motivated: Extrovert
b. Logical or Intuitive (go with concrete fact or trust your gut): Logical
c. Thinking or Feeling (follow your head or follow your heart): Thinking
d. Shy or Outgoing: Outgoing
e. Optimistic or Pessimistic: Pessimistic

9. How do you show that you care about others?
Doing things for them that they have to do. For example, if someone has lots of jobs to get done and not enough time, I'll help them out my doing those jobs for them so they can focus on themselves. I also value spending time talking and listening to people, or just spending time with people doing nothing.

10. Give us a quote.
I'm going to make it through this year if it kills me. One of my favourite lines from my favourite song by The Mountain Goats. It's pretty much my lifetime motto. Just taking it one year at a time.

11. Who is your hero and why?
Florence Nightingale for revolutionising the world of nursing. She has done so much for nurses everywhere, making our jobs so important and making us so much more than just those who clean-up after the doctors. She makes me proud to be a nurse. Sounds corny, but it's true.

QUESTIONS RELATED TO BAND OF BROTHERS

1. Favourite soldier in Easy Company. Why?
It's a toss-up between Winters and Nixon. Winters because he is such a caring guy who was respected and admired by just about everyone. He seems such a real, true and honest guy who I would love to be by my side just to make it through my day.
Nix is great as he is the polar-opposite of Winters, yet still a great, smart guy. Also, his cynicism sits well with me and my outlook on just about everything.

2. Favourite episode or favourite chapter in the book. Why?
My favourite episode would have to be Bastogne just because it's very medicine based. Plus, it's got nurses in it, and I'm pro-nurse, just in case you hadn't picked that out yet.
My favourite chapter in the book would have to be Post-War Careers as it is so interesting to see what became of our men of Easy.

3. If you had been alive in World War Two and eligible for military service, what branch would you have joined? What job would you have wanted (infantry, artillery, medic, pilot, at all.)? Why?
I would have loved (if I had the smarts and talent) to be a medic, surgeon or doctor in the war. I love caring for people and helping people through their problems, physcial or otherwise. I would have also loved to be a psychiatrist, but with the current knowledge we know now about mental health. I'd be diagnosing PTSD all over the place.

4. Okay, so now you're in the military. What is the one thing you want to send or bring home from Europe?
Since I'm a music nerd, I'd probably try and pick up an antique cello or viola. Or just get something generic like a Luger or a German helmet.

5. The war in Europe is over. Would you be willing to go fight in the Pacific? Why or why not?
If my friends went, I'm sure I'd pop over for another jump or two. But were it nowadays, as an Aussie, the Pacific is very close to home, so I would be willing to die for my territory.

6. What are your plans for when you return home?
Go to med school. Learn all there is to know about the body and psychiatry and help the veterans in any way I can.
