It was a great turning point in the history of Shinigami and human relations, when the human girl Inoue Orihime gave the Shinigami Kuchiki Rukia a rather squashed-looking frosted cupcake.
“Sorry, Kuchiki-san! Your’s got . . . squished,” Inoue said with an embarrassed smile.
“For . . . me?” Kuchiki wasn’t sure what to make of this. Demanding food from Ichigo was one thing, but Inoue wasn’t just offering food. She was giving it. The cupcake had what must have been (before it was squashed) “Kuchiki” in pink frosting. Treating food as a gift . . . what an interesting idea.
“Thank you,” Kuchiki smiled and devoured it hungrily. “Delicious.”
