facebook dilemma

so I have a "friend" on facebook who floods my news feed with obnoxious updates filled with ignorant and conservative statements (along with a lot of statuses whining about how he has nothing to do and no one wants to hang out) and I've been tempted several times to unfriend him, but I hold back because I tell myself it's important pay attention to viewpoints different from my own...but on the other hand, all his Obama and healthcare bashing are really getting to me.

Thoughts?
