AditEdit: And one year later..
22nd Feb 2012 - The news for a US release summer 2012.
24nd Feb 2012 release in the UK - The Last Story | Action RPG | Wii | Nintendo UK

btw, the game looks much better on the tv than in the trailer above.

4th Feb 2011: Dear Nintendo, I'll like to play this game with all text in English. I don't need it dubbed in English, I like the Japanese voice acting very much. Thank you.

This arrived yesterday late evening and m'boy has played it through the night and got up early this morning, or later, to continue. He's playing it now as I write this. He said I might like it and he is right. If I can get through the fights.. It's what I'd been whining about for many years - a game like Final Fantasy 4 - 6's, (witty dialoque, quirky situations, charming characters, great story, with challenging to your brain battles and puzzles, side quests) but with with the marvelous graphics of today. The Last Story is just that. Not very surprising some will say, as the man behind the earlier Final Fantasy series, Hironobu Sakaguchi, and the composer Nobuo Uematsu who created such engaging music for the series are part of the team bringing this game to us. I warmly noted the familiar character types, airships, the similar battle gameplay from the my beloved FFs and explorations of towns, villages, castles and mysterious places, but now like a movie in which the characters banter as they walk or fight. No cute animals, yet, but I forgot about them and stopped looking out for them a few hours in.

Now for the English version. Ideally with a great translation and an option to turn off speech if I can't get used to the American accent. (Too much to ask for Standard British English?)

Aditedit: M'boy says it more like FF9 than 6 or 4. I didn't play FF9 cos I couldn't bond with monkey boy. Sorry.

tee-vay!, game, music, over the sands of time, son
