Five questions from
gameshowman:
1) What do you miss most from living in Sacramento?
Not much, really, except for the fact that I have a lot of family down there, and it's a lot easier to make connections. Up here in Reno, it's really hard to get to know people. We've been here four years now and are really just starting to make connections within the last year or so. But the single thing I miss the most about Sacramento was the
awesome church I went to there; churches up here just aren't the same. We are nominally affiliated with
a church down the street, but we seldom go there. We do, however, get together with other couples from the church once a week (usually Wednesday nights) to chitchat.
2) Are you surprised that Mark Martin has more wins this year than anyone else?
Quite honestly, I haven't really been following NASCAR all that much this season. Working weekends makes it hard to do so.
3) I've told you guys about my job. Remind me what you do at your casino.
I'm a bellman. Basically, I am in charge of handling guests' luggage, but I do a lot of other tasks, too, that involve guest service, e.g., running errands, giving directions, recommending restaurants.
4) I'm thinking about going to a Reno Aces home game while I'm up there in August. Am I asking for trouble?
Actually, we've yet to make it to a game ourselves. Perhaps I could buy three tickets to an upcoming game? We'd treat you. But looking at
the schedule, looks like they'll be on the road most of that week. The only home games will be Friday and Saturday, against Round Rock. Generally I work Fri and Sat nights, but I could probably arrange something.
5) Pick me out a good spot to get a pizza (no chains, please) up there.
When we eat pizza, it's generally take-and-bake. However, I have had good luck a couple times before at
Boulevard Pizza in Sparks. (Their motto should be, "Shitty neighborhood, great pizza!")
I've also heard very good things about Uncle Vinny's Pizza in Sparks, but I've never eaten there so I can't vouch for it.
