"Acne and nail changes are commonly seen in psoriatic arthritis. Pitting and ridges are seen in finger and toe nails of 80% of patients with psoriatic arthritis. Interestingly, these characteristic nail changes are observed in only a minority of psoriasis patients who do not have arthritis. Acne has been noted to occur in higher frequency in patients with psoriatic arthritis"

When I became acne-prone around my 30th birthday, I went to my rheumatologist and said, "I am wondering if one of my meds is causing this sudden onset of acne." His negative response wasn't exactly incorrect. It probably wasn't the meds. But it would have been nice of him to let me know that it could have been the disease.
