Newsflash = Car Crashes Suck.

Had a trip planned for this week, Colossal-Con up in Ohio with some friends.

It was going to be fun.

DS, one of the guys, picked me up yesterday morning.

We drove, made good time, got to about an hour east of Van Horn.

And then we decided to pull over to a gas station to rest and switch off so we wouldn't crash into someone or something while on the highway.

Enage irony here.

Corner was taken too fast, crash happened, DS' car is wrecked on bridge thingy maybe fifty feet from the station.

Parents of course are naturally freaked out over the whole thing on my side and presumably his as well.

Other customers at gas station and the gas station attendant are remarkably helpful and caring and empathic and ask us if we're alright and say that things things happen and that we're lucky we weren't injured and that they're glad we're okay and generally restore faith in humanity.

State trooper comes by about an hour and a half after the crash. Asks what happens, if we're okay, etc, and afterwards gives DS a citation for unsafe speeds. (Which is different from speeding, somehow.) State trooper also handily calls wrecker, and helps wrecker get car onto the thing.

So we're both out a trip, DS is out a whole car, not to mention his insurance premiums have just gone up, and up a citation, and also we're both a bit freaked out and WTF.

We're both fairly uninjured, just a couple bruises and scratches (I've got something on my arm which I can't figure out is a bruise or a burn yet), and my right ear is still ringing, but we're alright.

My dad picked us up in Van Horn, took us back to the house, where we just spent the evening quietly for the most part, having already given up on the trip.

So I'm just quietly existing at home now and we got DS on a bus back to LA a few hours ago.

And I'm still out one trip. ):

life sucks, life, bad luck, vacation
