So far my week has had both its sweet and sour moments.

One of the sweet ones is that this week and next we’re doing inventory and withdrawing old books. The library is badly in need of this, we have not done inventory for about seven years. I haven’t helped with much beyond deleting the withdrawn ones from the system, but hopefully that’ll change.

On Monday, I saw my final grade for English, the one that will be on the report card. A 79! That’s not bad at all (especially when the semester average is weighed with ten extra points so long as I pass, so automatic Bs in a passed AP class here, which is really nice). The grade I got on that long, long waited on essay comparing Hamlet and Guildenstern and Rosencrantz Are Dead was an 85, which is pretty decent. I absolutely loved Guildenstern and Rosencrantz Are Dead, and while I’m not much one for postmodernism usually, and it is an absurd play, I suggest it to everyone on my Friendlist if you’ve not read it already, it’s good, and Guildenstern is just pure agonized awesome in a jar, especially when the Player is involved. Poor Guil.

Tuesday however was not so good.

I have a 59 in Computer Science, which doesn‘t hurt as much as it could since I have my required Technology credit and only need Economics and English to graduate, at this point, but it still hurts. I mean, I don’t get the class much now, and a lot of aspects of programming have left me in the dust, which is sad since this is basic stuff. I mean, I get what it’s supposed to do, I just don’t know how to implement it. This kills me on tests and programs. Then again, I had taken the course mainly so I could just see how well suited I was to Computer Science, and now I know: Not at all!

Japanese disappoints once more, as the last grading period served up a 67. I’m beginning to think that maybe the only way I could improve my Japanese skills really is to actually live there for awhile, the class is only getting to me so much, and while I’d like to learn more, there’s really no way to manage that in school, for me, I think. At any rate, this last month and a half or so is going to be the last time I’ll be in a foreign language class, most likely, since I doubt a foreign language will be a required thing in university. I think I’ll miss it.

These two failing grades mean I will not be able to participate in Contest.  This understandably makes me sad, as the songs we’ve been learning for Contest are all awesome, and I will not be able to sing. The Bells, using the poem of the same name by Poe, Red, Red, Rose, using the poem by the Scotsman, and Eccho Que Fierro are the three songs we’re using. Well, the varsity choir is using.

On the front of writing, progress seems to have slowed on the thing being written with
agenttrojie. This is to be expected, though, given said writing time has been going to other things like that recent RP on the PPC Board, as well as doing up more of my PPC missions.

Should probably start talk of making a comm or site for it soon, I suppose, since the all clear sign has been given for at least the first two parts by the editrix extraordinaire,
tea_fiend.
