Mystery is a tough genre to execute but I think you a respectable job with this story. You managed to keep me engaged - curious about what was to come in chapters I was yet to read.

One reason why was because of how well structured the story was. I like that it began in the present, then rewound back to the past and unwound in chronological order until the 'circle' of events was complete. That was one way in which you effectively maximised tension.

Another was how carefully you shared information with the reader. About 2/3 of the way through the story, I felt like I pretty much had the whole picture sorted in my head with the couple scraps of key information you'd shared in previous chapters but then it turned out I what I had was a skewed version of the truth i.e. The nature of Kai's relation to Jongin (you played that very well LOL) and the legitimacy of Kai's motives / actions.

One thing I was curious about was why Jongdae - and not say, Junmyeon - was the leader of EXO as would normally be the case. Was that to do with the way you wanted certain relationships to play out?

Overall, well done and I look forward to reading more from you!

first of all: thank you thank you thaaaank youuuu for such a well thought out comment. seriously, i appreciate it! i don't normally write stories like this (chaptered stories with a fixed day of the week release) because i feel like people get burnt out on it. posting monsters like this all at once (perhaps on ao3 where there's no character limit) seems to be the best way to get really thought out, in-depth critiques/comments/reviews. so im really happy and thankful that you took the time to comment this TT_TT

honestly yes, the reason jongdae was the leader was because of how i wanted the main otp to eventually play out. i love playing with dynamics with groups like that because it strays so far from the norm of people automatically putting people like junmyeon (or kris) in a leader role. i've always thought irl that jongdae would be an interesting and successful leader - he's not 100% serious, he's more of a "brother type" which i think makes him more trustworthy and relatable. but mostly, for the purpose of this story, jongdae was the leader to play on his and kai/jongin's relationship. i typed the first chapter of this story 1 year ago and had noooo idea where it was going to go, so i had to fill in all of the gaps after i came up with a 'pilot'. it turned out ok ;)

again, thank you for your comment ;u; i really appreciate it, and i can't wait to see you on future works! x
