070; 20 ICONS
These are really random, because my laptop died last Friday and I had to erase the hard disk and reinstall everything. Everything I had from the past 3 years? G O N E. But anyway~ Here's my entry for the final round at 20inspirations. A whole lot of words.
I feel like I don't necessarily have a style, because I'm still on a learning curve. Sure, I'm comfortable with certain styles, and I know what I like, but I'm always changing what I do here and there. Maybe that's why there are so many words; I'm trying to compensate by telling y'all more about me. I found this quote and I would love to make graphics by it:

MULAN
this part is mainly about me and where I come from. style-wise, I stuck to bright colours, but played around a little with composition and textures.
01 | I identify with Mulan a lot, and partly because she's Chinese and I am part of that culture. I think she does struggle with herself, because she has to fight against the stereotype of being female in society, and I definitely felt that kind of insecurity growing up.
02 | I'm no warrior, let's be honest. But I was in the National Cadet Corps for 4 years in my school (google it; but basically it's like the JROTC for people in the USA, or a scaled-down version of the national army for students), and I went through training, which was tough, but it helped me to become who I am today. I also got to shoot an M-16 (3 years in simulation, 2 times with live rounds), which I shall be forever proud of, okay, since I was chosen to be part of my school's team for a shooting competition. (We lost, but hush.)
03 | I'm an anxious person, with a load of insecurities. It's what makes me me.
04 | Filial piety was a huge part of my growing up process; it was emphasised in school and at home.
HARRY POTTER; CRIMINAL MINDS
my first two active fandoms. darker, more intense, more texture use.
05 | I like Hermione. She's intelligent and bold. I relate to her being the nerd, really, because I do see grades as important, and I love reading about random bits of information just because. I've always done good in school, but I've not been that pressed about grades since I was 15 and actually had a social life :3
06 | I love Luna because she's quirky and she owns it. I'd love to be like that. She's a Ravenclaw, and I am a Ravenclaw. I've said it before, in my set for hpotterelite, that she's one for house unity, not rivalry, and that's another reason why I love her so much. She's always reaching out for friends, but is equally okay being in her own world, which is something that I can totally relate to.
07 | Harry Potter has been my main fandom for about 10 years now. I've made loads of friends in the fandom, and it's the main reason why I went into icon-making and writing in the first place.
08 | Criminal Minds was my second fandom, and the first landcomm I was ever in on LJ was crimeland. It was a blast being there! Learned a lot about making graphics and discovered the talents of library_of_sex :3 Reid has always been my favourite, because he's awkward and smart and badass. And Gubler is adorable, lbr.
COMMUNITY; NEW GIRL
I enjoy comedy because I like to laugh, even if people tend to think I'm srsbsns because of my default facial expression >.> Yellows and blues, bright, saturation/vibrance, a surprise.
09 | I love Annie! Wanted to go futuristic with this icon to represent my love for science fiction. I'm not a ~hardcore~ SF fan, but I do love reading books about androids and dystopian futures.
10 | First icon I made after a really bad icon block, and it grew on me lmao. It's the dean from Community, at a rave, and I guess it could represent the craycray part of me that comes out when I'm alone. And squeeing.
11 | I love Zooey Deschanel, and I love her as Jess Day in New Girl. She's so bright and ajshgfhj I just like her a lot.
12 | I have yet to catch up on a dozen episodes of New Girl, but I love this cap. Somewhat unrelated~; it reminds me of when I was younger and used to snap at my brothers when they got on my nerves.
GENERATION KILL
my main fandom at the moment. profile shots, quiet moments.
13 | Nate! I would follow rl!Nate into war, okay, especially after reading One Bullet Away. Such an awesome leader. ALSO STARK SANDS IS QT.
14 | GK is my favourite fandom at the moment. I've never been so invested in a fandom since maybe Harry Potter, really. It's small but so welcoming and friendly, and the subject is ridiculously good.
15 | RAAAAAAY. I love Ray. PJ as Ray is so awesome and funny. My mind!voice turns into Ripped Fuel Ray when I'm really tired and stressed out. RL!Ray is equally awesome; so witty and sharp and sardonic and his twitter page is MLP. I CAN'T EVEN.
16 | Fuck yeah it's Nate again because I love him that much. He's always caught in between his platoon and Command, and he's always so alone. I want to hug him and I want to climb Stark like a tree. One day I'm going to rewatch GK and count how many times he says the word 'assure'.
TRUE BLOOD; THE GOOD WIFE

17 | Decided to start watching True Blood about a fortnight ago. Askars was in GK, ofc, and he took his bloody time (har de har har) showing up in TB. Everything needs more Askars.
18 | I should say that I'm still stuck at ep 11 of S1, because I'm a slow watcher lol. But dude this cap was so qt I LOVE IT. I saw it and realised that YES ASKARS DOES THINGS TO ME damn his Viking ass. Technique-wise, I've always wanted to do something like this :3
19 | PAAAAAM is such a badass character. I just like her and Eric okay. Not a big fan of SOOKEH and I really dislike BEEEL.
20 | And a random The Good Wife icon appears. I really like this show. Alicia is such a strong woman, and she juggles family and career practically. Every time I look at Will, I just think back to Dead Poets Society and make a crey face. That might be partly why I want them to end up together.
