That's true, about faith. Maybe the writers even went back and realized "Oh hey, there's totally an allusion back there!" with the whole "Dean's got an unfulfilled purpose" thing.

The Bible's great, it has so much history behind it. But only as stories. Portraying it as real...:| AT least they went with the Old Testament type angels.

Know what? What I wanna see is Dean wrestling Castiel, and he gets powers out of it. Healing maybe, demon-smiting would be even better. Would be a reference to a classic story, and even the odds as well.

I love alternative interpretations. One of the reasons Madeline Montalban's idea fascinated me. It basically combines Lucifer with the concept of the messiah.

Can you tell me about your bunnies? I didn't even know they were there!

Oo, argh. A plot cat just jumped on my head. Forget bunnies, this one just pounced out of the recesses of my brain. Dunno if I'll ever get around to it, it's pretty complex.
-Lilith isn't a demon per se. Goes back to her original role as first woman?
-Angels don’t seem to care much for collateral damage, so I guess she just took it to an extreme. She has a mission to carry out by any means necessary, which is the breaking of the seals.
-Yes, it’s still to release Lucifer, but in this case, she saw him being bound, and knows he’s the one to change things, act as a messiah. Or something.
-The angels were the ones that bound him, for he dared to be different. They wanted to be worshipped, created the idea of God. God=the collective of angels?
-They sent Lilith to their prison (Hell), where she went kinda crazy.
-Tho they could only bind his power, and not destroy his soul. They sent the soul out into the cycle of rebirth, as a plain human. Kept track of it, tho, just in case.
-Lilith escaped with the opening of the Devil’s Gate, so she’s off zealously on her mission.
-Angels lost a few more seals than they cared to, so they yanked Dean out. Also, they couldn’t have his soul remembering. Long enough in the fire, and the seals would’ve broken anyway (tho not with all the ghosts and shit). It was quite convenient that he also happened to have the Lucifer soul. They manipulate him into helping keep the seals whole.
-But despite their efforts, the seals are broken, and Dean gets all SHINY. Lilith dies happily in the awesome light, glad to be finished her mission and released the savior.
-And then I guess it’s kinda like the Second Coming, only without all that stuff in Revelations, and life is Awesome.

Aw hell, or maybe *everyone's* surprised. That would be easier, not as much backstory to set up. >.>
