You let this fandom buy you one drink, just one drink and before you know it, your clothes’ve come off and you’re doing all these vile and depraved things that you always said you’d never do or just plain weren’t into and you can’t bring yourself to have any kind of problem with the situation at all. Then the next day you wake up kinda sore, wondering what the hell you did last night and have only fleeting remembrances of pretty emo boys, glitter and lube.
Found this definition on the Supernatural wiki-thingy. It is a true thing indeed! That's precisely what happened to me, and damn if I didn't enjoy it. I started off in this fandom all "la la la, yay brothers, how cute! <3" I start reading fic. I see wincest and am all "OMG EWWW! :skitters nervously away to the gen side: "
I've been a slasher for years, and in almost every fandom I've been into. So in SPN, naturally I wanted a source for my slashy needs cuz, DAMN, those boys are hot. So I turn to RPS, which while weird for me (hey, real people here!), was much less objectionable to me than incest. So I continue on happily for a few weeks, reading my Padackles fic, and was satisfied.
At some point, I try reading some Sam/Dean fic. I dunno why. I think I figured, 'Aw hell. it's really not that much more twisted than anything else I've ever read. "I've looked into the abyss, and the abyss looked into me and all that jazz." It's almsot how I got into SPN in the first place. I resisted initially, but then gave in. I was weak. And now I love every minute of it! (unless it's particularly angsty. Then I'm depressed).
This crazy fandom has revived an old kink or two (cuz if I never got into SPN, I wouldn't know about Jensen, or about "Ten Inch Hero" and yah OMG KILT!), given me a few new ones (car!porn, woo!). I think it's affected me more than any other fandom has before. Made me think.
Someone should really compile a list, similar to "Only in America..."
Only in the Supernatural fandom:
- Do we have have not only car!porn, but several varieties! there's regular sex-in/on-Metallicar, and I'm sure I saw at least two where Dean is linked to the car somehow, AND I read one the other day with full-on sexin' while driving. All Wincest, mind you. (when this fandom's kinky, we're really kinky).
- Calmly discuss the varied reasons why Wincest makes sense (cuz, really, it kinda does, actually).
- Find the car nearly as hot as the guys driving around in it (okay, her).
- some of the greatest, most awesome crackfic the world has ever seen.
- There's this one fic series with Dean and Sam and OMFG PREISTLY. (It's been months since I first saw that shot of Jensen from that movie, and in my mind it's still in all caps).
- Umm...oh, I don't know. At this hour I'm lucky if I can even spell correctly! G'night.
