I eventually left :) I got there at 7:30, but since I didn't work the first hour and I took a 2 hour lunch...er, I kind of had to stay

You so did work the first hour! You need to see it this way: you took the first hour to relax and prepare yourself mentally so that you would be productive. Withough that first hour, you would have accomplished half-a-day's work. Consequently, taking that first hour for yourself was a sound investment.

oh, right. that is true. I would terribly ineffective if I never, ever took a break. and since it was Monday, I suppose I was entitled to a slow start :)
