Long ass trip
So finished up the long distance ride from North Carolina to Conneticut. Let me just say wow!! It was great, it hurt, and it was long. We did a 500+ mile first day which left us only about 230 miles today. Tried to avoid highways as much as possible, tons of back roads, scenic highways, and cut throughs.
If I was going to do it again I would break the trip up into three 250 mile legs. It would have given us some time to make a few more stops and not have a 14 hour first day.
Highlights:
Before the first day of the trip I had only driven about 500 miles, I doubled that easily the first day.
Got some great mountain riding on the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Dr. Great corners, tons of up and downs, and nice views.
Managed to avoid the northeast corridor, which ended up making the trip really nice. Not much traffic, decently cool, and got to dictate our own speeds.
Getting home and figuring out that my ass was still in one piece and hadn't been broken in many pieces from 20+ hours in the saddle, but damn does it hurt.
