Hmm...
I had a very interesting conversation with Ito-san this morning regarding my career - it turns out that I may be going to Japan for my education (maybe). He said that there is a Buddhist seminary-type thing where I can essentially get a Masters degree IN ADDITION to my priesthood (and Pocky for all of us - except you). He had a lot to say about me becoming a priest - all of you look out for an invitation...to my baptism (or whatever they call it - I hope they don't use water, it's usually from a hose...). It would be interesting indeed. Today we also managed to chant a bit, as well as discuss my upcoming residence at the monastery. Ito-san said that I am representing the Rinzai Hakone Zendo while I am there - I think he meant it as praise, but I take it as a warning and a precaution: I must not fail.
