I asked the Sun for a sunburn and I got one! And I mean the kind of burn that screams "you should have known better!" every time you pull up your pants or sling your purse over your shoulder. It's glorious!
Also glorious, the picnic at Cal Anderson Park on grass like a pillow. Bread and cheese (I was so meant to be French!) and avocado and peppermint cheesecake... It felt like the end credits should roll any second as the camera panned out from the four friends, toasting white wine in plastic cups, to show the Seattle skyline and all the beautiful, unique Seattlites--bearded, tattooed indy guys tossing frisbees, pierced youth with multi-colored hair balancing on the edge of the fountain, same-sex partners cuddling up as their dogs frolicked around them on the sun-lit lawn... It was the way I guess I could have imagined Seattle before I lived here, and a nice reminder that maybe it's not such a bad place to be.
