Nostalgic moment of the day...
Morning Musume.....
The reason I am an asian music fanatic is thanks to that group. They formed me into the fangirl I am today. Since TVXQ came into my life I kind of let go of the girls, mostly due to that fact that Yossy left the group and because I just couldn't find anything in the remaining girls that I could love.
Just recently that I understood my lack of interest, MM sucks, they really suck. It is not the girls, they are lovely, great singers and dancers, it is the music that sucks, the costumes and most of all the PV's.

And the Musume that kind of doesn't ......
I hate the fact that MM is sucking, they kind of represent the idea of J-pop in my mind.
So I know why they are sucking, I had my suspicions but this confirms it:
Morning Musume's music has rarely changed, perhaps not surprising given that one man has produced every song. The hollow keyboard-driven productions may epitomize everything non-Japanese tend to hate about J-pop (.)
"He decides everything," explains the group's manager since September 2008, Kouichi Nishikata. "Usually an artist is controlled by their management, but this group is formed by the producer. It is a rare case."
Nishikata admits, "I think that the group could never survive without him. Tsunku really produces the songs, concepts, costumes, makeup, live shows, CD-sleeve designs - you name it! I had thought there was a stand-in or something to do all that."
Tsu-su-chan, sigh, tsu-su-chan. I love the man, he writes awesome lyrics, but his interpretation of what a beautiful woman looks like is wrong. He really needs a reality check, he needs to let the girls get some input and most of all, he needs to let MM become one with the current music scene. They are stuck in some kind of 90's pop limbo and that is tragic seeing as that group is filled to the brink with talent (except Koharu and Mishige, pretty yes, talented no)
Tsunku really needs to step down, Ice-cream Musume being the final drop. A chinese girl group that cover japanase Morning musume songs? WTH where is the originality?

I could go on and on about what sucks and doesn't in MM. We international fans seem to be good at it as many blogs are dedicated to everything H!P. Everyone seems to have an opinion about MM, perhaps some day when I am not too tired I might talk about my thoughts it in a more convincing way. For now this is going to have to be satisfactory seeing as I just needed to write something!
