(no subject)
ok I admit i have been horrible at updating. sorry. My only excuse is that my computer crashed. I am currently at a coffee shop where my friend works. there are several upsides to this. one I have to keep myself busy while she closes up shop so i am reminded of all the things i can do on the compy including update livejournal. secondly they have xm and she has it set to the indie station and i get to hear all sorts of awesome music I wouldn't usually. for instance i think Stephen malkmus is on right now. when was the last time i popped in a pavement album? wow now its the elected. awesome.
so this week was full of firsts for me. Friday, I filed for workers comp for the first time(apparently I have tendonitis in my right middle finger. the splint is hilariously inappropriate.). Then Saturday, I went to see The Velvet Teen all by myself. Super weird to be alone. but I made it. The whole time I kept wishing shelly were here. she would have gone. but it turned out awesome! let me nerd out for a sec.
for those of you that love the velveteen and care. here's a few facts:
one: they are coming to reno and san fran soon you should go.
two: they have new drummer,some of you might have already known that. But did you know that he's awesome?! He's completely changed their sound for the better. they are total indie rock now. emphasis on the "rock". Gone are the sad slow songs.
three: the show was awesome, they played all but one new songs. I know that doesnt sound good. but honestly this is how it went. everytime a song would start we would get a little depressed that we didn't recognize it but not even 15 seconds into the song we were staring with open mouths thinking,"is this not the best song youve ever heard? When is this new album coming out???" And that happened with almost everysong.
four: the new album doesnt come out until july. but there is a single coming out in april.
ok done nerding out.
The third first for me is I am going to the snow for the weekend and staying in a cabin with a few of my roomates. I've been to the snow before but only on day trips. I'm not skiing or anything but drinking tea and reading a book for two days sounds like fun to me right now. and its just the rest my hand needs. unlike typing this ridiculously long journal entry.

so basically thats it I am off of work for about a week so I will try to write again soon next time it wont be so long.
