I am home. As I was saying earlier that I was sure was going to happen...I had a great time and am really glad that I went. Josh came and picked me up and then we went by Duke to get Jose. Conversation was steady and the silences were comfortable.

It was funny, when we got to Duke, I asked Josh if he would like for me to sit in the back. He said he was fine either way and I decided to let Jose sit up front so that they would have a chance to talk. I said, "Well, I'll get in the back and let you menfolk talk."

Aghast Josh gasped, "Menfolk? This isn't the Waltons Thanksgiving!" hahahahahaha...he is too funny

When I arrived, I met Katie (Josh's daughter)and talked with Eli a little before diving in and helping Judith in the kitchen. For a person who isn't very kitchen savvy, I think I actually helped out a lot and since i was somewhat familiar with the kitchen...that helped out too.

In between doing things, Judith and I had a cup of tea and sat out on the porch and talked about our families and then after basting the turkey again, we went for a short walk around the property. It had been a while since I'd been there and let me tell you...I still love that place so much. It actually felt like I was close to home. There was country music playing in the background and we were out in the country and it was just really nice.

Then it was time for dinner and we all passed the food around and talked and laughed and shared stories as we got to know one another. It was a very comfortable setting and when it started getting a little darker, Judith lit some candles on the table and that made it even more homey.

After dinner, Judith said it would be better if we just left the kitchen to her since she knew where things went and so Eli and I went out onto the porch to talk. We talked about our lives since he left Whole Foods and then we got onto the subject of music and then tv shows. Jose came out for a couple of minutes, but being from Laredo, he was freezing so he went back inside. A while later, Judith came out and told us it was time for pie.

So...Eli and I went back inside and we sat down to pie and coffee/milk with homemade whipped cream. Katie made the pies - pumpkin and cherry - unfortunately I didn't get to try the cherry, but the pumpkin was great. Again, we spent time talking and laughing, this time even more openly and comfortably than before.

Finally, Josh said that it was about time to go and so Judith prepared to go bags for Jose and I and we were off.

So...now I am home and have arranged for a ride to work in the morning and am getting ready to call my family here in a few minutes. It's been a really great day and I am really glad that I went. I hope that everyone's day was as pleasant.

Love and huggles...T

thanksgiving
