Tolch - The Concert

A part of me is still in disbelief that Michael Tolcher was in Carrboro and at the Cradle. But, I was there and I talked to him, got a hug and a pic afterwards...and even though my dreams have been quite realistic lately...I am pretty sure that was real. haha

The show was so awesome. I didn't ask why, but he's doing some solo shows and this was one of them. There he was...just Michael...his guitar...his voice, and his amazing lyrics. I loved it, though I thought the set was too short.

He played many of my favorites and his interaction with the audience is always something that I look forward to. He has said many times before that he gets his energy from the feel of the crowd and so it's always great to hear people singing and participating.

He was asking what people wanted to hear and so I asked Candi to yell "Promises Break" because it's my fave and I knew he wouldn't hear me...most people don't. haha. So...I admit it...I jumped up and squeed when he began strumming the familiar tune that I love so dearly. Thanks Candi!!!!!!!!!!

Michael...his songs...and his views on life are just good for my soul. I don't know what it is about him, but it seems like just when I really need to hear something...he posts it in his journal, or a song rings true with what's going on with me and inspires me to move on past whatever it is. I will never see Michael Tolcher too many times, it simply won't be possible.

Anywho...he smiled a lot and joked around during the set and then afterwards when he came back inside, we exchanged a wave before he was met by fangirls. We got in line and lots of people shoved in front of us...*rolls eyes. I didn't really care so much since I wanted to be able to talk to him without being rushed, but Candi had plans to make and I didn't want to hold anyone up.

I finally made my way up to him and we hugged and he told me it was really good to see me. I told him that it was great seeing him here in Carrboro and that his set was great, as usual. We talked about "Promises Break" and how he is having trouble breathing right now with all of the fall stuff that's going around. He told me he drove up here in a rental car with the sound guys and then I got a picture with him and we thanked one another once again before I moved out of the way so that Candi could talk to him. Wouldn't you know it though...some other girls jumped up there ahead of her. *shakes her fist at them

Long story short...the show was excellent and very intimate. Brian Flannery said that he actually liked the unplugged show better than the full set with the band. I was surprised to hear that because I thought all of the guys came for the lead and bass guitar stuff. hahaha.

Anywho...Michael won't be back around for a while...sad. I'll keep you posted on his journal entries though. Take care all and look forward to some pics when I get them developed! Love and huggles...T
