Random Acts

Over the past month or so, I sat down and marathoned SPN. I am completely caught up now and in the process, I found someone amazing: Misha Collins.

Yes, it all started with Castiel and his cute humor and then his general badassness, but then I started looking into the man behind the angel. What I found astounded me.

Not only is Misha extremely funny and just goofy (which I love) he's also just a super-amazing person. He started this non-profit organization called Random Acts and I'll post a video that kind of sums up what they are about. Granted, this video is from last year, but you'll still get the point of it all and get a chance to see what amazing things are happening:

If you're curious about Misha's run, Misha ran for over 11 hours, covering a distance of 83 kilometers (approximately 52 miles), and raised $84,664.62 from a total of 1,795 donations.

The funds raised were split between Random Acts (52%), flood relief efforts in Pakistan (15% - donated to Mercy Corp), and three orphanages we support in Haiti (33% - to provide supplies to the Faith and Love Orphanage in Jacmel, Espoir des Enfants, and a small, unnamed orphanage in the village of Cyavidier, outside of Jacmel).

Needless to say, he and his organization have inspired me greatly to do my own little random acts of kindness. Just this week, I've made thank you cards for the parking attendants, letting them know they are appreciated and have been conjuring up all sorts of other ideas such as putting a sticky note on the bathroom mirror here at work with messages like: You are beautiful! You are amazing! You make a difference!

As almost a blessing, the Hope to Haiti project donation deadline was extended yesterday. If you'd like to help Misha meet their goal...and help out Haiti, you can go the link below and make a small donation. If not, that's fine too...but I wanted to put that option out there and get the word out.

Hope To Haiti Project

I will try and keep you posted as things come up, if you are interested in knowing. I have made a link to the site here on my LJ and also a link to their LJ Community and will continue being excited about coming up with small Random Acts that might just make someone's day. : )
