My life

Mar 05, 2007 01:02

I'm alive. Sorry I haven't been in touch much. Things have been a little bit hectic and crazy...as it sounds like it is for everyone these days.

Thankfully, my finals are over!! WOOT! That's been my most recent stress. The next one? My new classes start tomorrow! haha.

In other news...I want to talk for a few minutes about the bright spot that's been gracing me as of late = my new gig.

Ron Pope is an unbelievably talented musician/songwriter/singer that I've recently started working with. The cool thing? This isn't anything like the work I've done with bands before. This isn't some...come to the show and sell our stuff kind of job. I am really working WITH him in getting things done and ready for their NATIONAL TOUR that's coming up.

The gig? I am the Street Team Manager for his band The District. They are a band that's originally out of Georgia and are now currently residing in New York City. So, what do I do?

I am basically in charge of the entire fanbase and all promotion. I've been working diligently over the past couple of weeks on getting things set up, including The District Street Team MySpace Page and then setting to work on commenting people on his page and the band's page and sending out messages/bulletins/blogs to the mailing lists and such to begin gathering my promotional army. hehe

It's been a lot of work and I still have a lot more to do, but you know what? I am having the time of my life!! Not only is Ron a great guy who is SOOOO utterly talented, he's funny and he appreciates and acknowledges what I do for him. He always keeps in touch and calls me and we get each other's backs. That's what it's all about and he has my support completely!

He trusts me with tons of responsibilities and it's really cool how we feed off of one another's energy sometimes. hehe. The cool thing is that I suggest things to him and he not only considers them, but often thinks that they are good ideas and says that we are going to find ways to implement them! I can't even begin to tell you how much that means!

This is exactly what I've been looking for and it's been making me happier than I care to admit. I'm always afraid of that other shoe dropping, but I have to admit that it's felt really good to be so excited about something again.

So, now for a shameless plug...if you have a listen to the band and think that you'd like to help promote them when they come to your area, send me an email at districtstreetteam@gmail.com and add us as a friend on the MySpace page! It's going to be a great ride...the tour starts in 4 weeks!!!!!!!! GET EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also...a HUGE thank you to Candi for your help and your support and most of all...your understanding in all of this. You're right...this is exactly what I need and exactly where I want to be...and I am only going to be moving forward...ow OW!!!

This lovely banner and my icon were both made by her...thanks for your creativity!!!!!!!
