(yesterday): BATTLESTARS. SO AWESOME. seriously, why isn't everyone on my flist watching this, I want to read reaction posts from everyone! I Cannot believe after all that final-season!! hype we are stuck waiting for who knows how long for 4.fucking5, agh. that was so fantastic even though it should have been 2 hours long, there was no time for any reactions to any of the crazy shit that went down. except for the adama scenery-chewing. I was watching it in the basement rec room, trying to tune out the rowdy italian boys playing pool 4 feet away, and was at points jaw-dropped. if I hadn't had company I would have been shrieking. more starbuck please!
so have I mentioned I hate living in the dorms (have I mentioned the dorms at all)? because really. they are 2 blocks from campus so that is great but ohh, I hate sleeping in the same room as a Total Stranger. plus she's always in bed asleep by 10 pm, which, how is that even possible!
I am venturing out to by new shoes and lunch and maybe head to brookyln pride, although I might want to save my enthusiasm for the big one next weekend on christopher street. I may go and finish that terrible vampire book in the lovely air conditioning of a bookstore instead. ...well, that plan got derailed by the massive thunderstorm that set in minutes after I walked outside.
tomorrow is going to be a very productive and scholarly day involving lots of reading and highlighting and etc. I am so excited. I am going to take notes and write up talking points so I can be one of those very-heavily-participating people, the smart kind, not the kind that just won't shut up. in undergrad I didn't talk all that much during class and that does not fly in grad school. plus after all my campus visits I compiled a list of the kind of grad student I wanted to be and the kind I wanted to avoid based on my scientific observations-- v. instructive. I am so excited! I went and printed out all the articles for class this week and oh man, there are a lot of them. plus a book I haven't bought yet. I have to buy highlighters!
I realized today that reading is my *job* now. that is so cool.
(today): yesterday I found the best pizza ever and realized (well, remembered) that popsicles are the way to beat the heat. also found a pair of leather converse with velcro instead of laces which I may need to buy?, but I can't decide. they would be useful in the rain, but does one really need to veer that far from regular lo-tops? these are the things I am considering. also how annoying it is when you can't find things for sale on the internet.
off to buy highlighters and maybe a new notebook? and sit somewhere and read and read. also may go and see split britches this afternoon!: what a good way to start school.
