I have been thinking very hard and deep about my favourites... And I think these are the characters of my choice:
1. Eucalypta, from the Dutch tv-series "Paulus de Boskabouter"
..."and now the spells," the witch continued after a while. "I need a bunch of nice little spells. Hihi, it will be tremendous fun." And oh dear, what a terrible mess of papers then appeared. Small notes fluttered all around. Small sheets with frightingly complex calculations, with recipies and strange words, with magical signs and secret languages. It covered the entire floor of the small witch cabin. Finally, Eucalypta had found what she had been looking for and while waving the stork legs she mumbled: 'Harraparramarra - koelekoele - piewieterdepetatter - fallera - dipsiko'
2. The Treacle Tree, from the Swedish tv-series "Dr. Snuggles"
The treacle tree has little cans with hearts on them hanging from his upper branches. He lives outside Dr. Snuggles' house, is bored of staying in one place. The Tree is not satisfied with being a tree and is always looking for adventures. Seeing birds gives him the idea that he wants to learn how to fly. Dr. Snuggles builds him a pair of wings. But when the tree goes missing on his practice flight, the gang has to go look for him in Dr. Snuggles' space rocket.
3. David de Kabouter
"The world we live in is full of beautiful things, such as miracles and the secrets of nature... If you don't look close enough when in the woods, you will never see a rabbit, a squirrel or a deer, eventhough they're there. And if you look very closely, you will see us... For David, no house is too small, because the smallest of them all can be found in the land of the gnomes."
But wow...this was a tough choice and wouldn't be surprised if I had a different opinion about my fantasy characters tomorrow... I'm for example a huge fan of some of the characters in "The Labyrinth"... Shouldn't I have added at least one?
