Author's Notes:Lilah at work. Originally written for open_on_sunday inanimate objects challenge
She pours herself a glass of scotch, taking no time to savor, just slamming it back down on her desk and kicking her shoes off. 4 1/2 italian leather heels that had become her signature footwear.
Leaning back into her chair she looks around. Paper covered desk, empty glass, shoes strewn carelessly on the floor.
Surrounded by soulless, lifeless things. Reminders of what she's become. A shell of a woman kept around because she fills a need; serves a purpose.
The clock ticks and her mind flashes to another inanimate object. Her paycheck. And with that she goes back to work.
