Bulgari has collaborated with charity organization
Save the Children and created two special rings for their 125th year anniversary. The rings have been on sale since the 2nd of January and was initially exclusively available at Harrods until the end of that month. Bulgari has committed to raise €10 million for the organization, and €1 million has already been donated to Save the Children. The remaining figure will be raised during 2009 through Bulgari stores and selected Bulgari authorised dealers.
Made of sterling silver, the rings pay tribute to Sotirio Bulgari, the company's founder who began as a silversmith in the 1800s, and feature Save the Children's logo engraved on the inside.
Rewrite the Future
Today, 37 million children around the world are missing out on education due to armed conflict and violence. When war is over, schools are often destroyed and teachers killed so there is no longer a school for children to attend. Where schools do exist, resources are scarce, classes are overcrowded and teachers are untrained.
Two years ago Save the Children launched its global campaign Rewrite the Future which is focused on securing quality education for the millions of children out of school due to conflict and violence. Rewrite the Future pledges to:
- Ensure that 3 million out-of-school children gain access to good-quality education in conflict-affected countries by 2010.
- Improve the quality of existing education programmes for a further 5 million children.
Since 2006, Save the Children has rebuilt schools, supplied school materials and protected children from abuse and exploitation, paving the way for a durable change in the lives of almost 6 million children.
source The SAVE THE CHILDREN rings are priced at RM1250, of which RM250 of every sale will go to Save the Children's Rewrite the Future campaign. It is available in sterling silver and comes in two different sizes; the small band has a height of 0.31" (8mm), and the large band has a height of 0.39". Both the sizes are of the same price.
These rings have been seen on numerous celebrities who have shown their support towards this cause, and they include the likes of Jason Lewis, Isabella Rossellini, Terrence Howard, Ben Stiller and Willem Dafoe. They are part of the 14 celebrities who will be photographed by renowned photographer Fabrizio Ferri for this campaign.
Locally, the special edition ring is available at Bulgari boutiques in Pavilion KL and Suria KLCC, in ring sizes ranging from 47-66. They only have very limited sizes left, mostly for the petite :/ I asked the SA and he said that there will be another batch coming in, so the best bet is to go to the boutique and get your finger measured and leave your contact details. Always good to get one size up because the cool atmosphere of shopping malls tend to shrink your fingers.
Lend a helping hand if you can people! When else can you get a Bulgari ring for this price, and for such a good cause? Crazy. Fashion + Charity = Genius :)
