Is that like back to the future LOL. Whoa what a game. I got to the ballpark about 5:15 (game started at 6:40). Before I got in I got my program with Gonzo on the cover. The girls would like that. Was so taken in by seeing all the excitement in the plaza again I had to push myself to go and get my ticket from the will call.
When I got in I watched the tape they have running, around the ballpark from the 2001 World Series and showed Finley hitting a home run in game 5. I wanted to cry. So many others not on the team. Oh well our hero of that series is still with us. Thanks for staying Gonzo. My first stop after swiping my Diamondbackers card, was at the team shop. They had a certain shirt half price. I now have Jordan's birthday present. Then I went to go get my jumbo diet pepsi. It went up a quarter. Grr! But nice to know they have the big straws for the big sodas. The little straws would sing into the cup and never to be found again. Well OK, you had to dig them out.
I went up to my seat in 301 second row and saw my friend, Sue who yes, still has that seat in the front row in 301. She left after the Pat Tilman tribute because Terri, another friend at the ballpark, won Rattlers tickets and Sue had never been to a Rattler's game. So when Sue left I got to sit in her seat in the first row. Great view, even if it way out on the ends. The roof was open for a very nice evening of baseball.
The Pat Tilman tribute was great. I wish I could hear what they were saying because these idiot Padre fans (nothing against the Padres) wouldn't stop talking so loudly. They did a video presentation. They had all of the people serving in the military stand up and had the rest of cheer them on for all that they do. For the first pitch, well they didn't have a first pitch. They had Tony Clark, who's brother is serving in the military, go out and place a football on the pitcher's mound. It was cool. They also had 3 Boeing military helicopters fly over the ballpark. Twas cool. Wow and this was just pre-game.
Brad Halsey pitched a heck of a game. Followed by Mike Koplove and Brandon Lyon. Lyon almost blew the game for us and Mikey pitched a heck of a game,
bullpenbrat22. I think they should have kept him the next inning. My guy Shawn Green made a heck of a diving catch. Amazing. I had a nice arial view of it. I had a nice arial view of Shawn for throughout the game being out in the right field corner. However the player of the game was Troy Glaus who went 3 for 5 w/ a 2 run homer and will have to admit he is hot in his new Dback uniform, right
baseball_angel. Clayton is picking up a little. But I don't know what it is, everytime the announced the centerfielder, I still hear Steve Finley's name in my head. But the one we had last night is the one I think we should have had as the everyday CF and that is Quinton McCracken. Always like to see Q in CF when Fins was out. But Cruz is a gem, so we'll keep him. I did see my favorite player who was never a Dback in the Padre dugout and yes
bullpenbrat22 it was Khalil. I guess he did make the trip and Mark Sweeney came up as a pinch hitter. You would have loved this game. As a result the DIAMONDBACKS WON!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!
Well that's my adventure last night. I think I'll hop in the shower and head over to my Mom's Long bus ride to Glendale. I'm dying to see the kids. Jordan's birthday is tomorrow. I see about posting a pic of my birthday boy tomorrow. Next week is the party so I will need to get wrapping for his present and load my camera to get pics of the party. So long for now.
