Writer's Block: Heavenly Bodies

Apr 08, 2009 08:04

I've named a few planets in my would-be sci-fi.  Shiva and Ushas from Vedic scripture.  Tamar, which is Hebrew.  Sidhue, which is a corruption of "sidhe", one of the Celtic words for faerie.  Beta Bootes, named for the star and the constellation.  Agilla, named for the Aquila constellation, the eagle.

I probably would call the planet Bast or Bastet, in all seriousness.  If I wasn't serious, I'd call the planet BFE.  (Bum-F*** Egypt.)  I just think it would be funny.  "We're sending an exploration ship out to BFE.", "No, they don't live in on Earth, they're in a colony all the way out on BFE."
