Went to Chicago today. We went to the Field Museum because National Geographic had an exhibit going on the Whydah, which is the only intact pirate wreck ever discovered. Pieces have been found of other pirate wrecks, but not the whole things. On thinking about it, it makes sense, because other wrecks would have probably been blown to smithereens when they went down. This ship went down in a storm. Most of it was oriented towards kids, as is the majority of the Field Museum. It was cool, though. There was even a chest full of silver pieces, the only pirate treasure ever recovered. By the time we left, the show was sold out.
We hailed a cab to Pearl and went art-supply buying. They had very few Copics but I managed to find four colors I didn't have before. They had these ShinHan markers I was tempted to buy because they were really inexpensive for fancy markers and there were about 250 colors of them there, but I decided to stick with the Copics. We had a lot of cab rides today, mostly because Sean's foot is killing him. Humph. The tendons in the backsof my legs were tight as piano wire but had it been just me hurting, we probably would have walked.
We ate at an Irish pub. The food was good, but it didn't agree with me. I tried a sip of Newcastle Brown Ale and of Guinness. I like them both. I know Guinness is rightly suppoed to be served room temperature, but I liked it cold. Chaz says it's bitter at when cold and tastes like tree bark, but I think it's rich and has a sort of earthy smooth taste that reminds me of coffee in a good way, and I don't even like coffee. We're learning more and more about beer these days (like Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat=good, Goose island India Pale=pretty damn bitter, and nasty if you don't like that.)
Going to petsit tomorrow at my aunt and uncle's. Ahhhhh, sweet serenity.
