This Godsdamn "Winter" stuff can stop right now
Another night of driving home through all the curves of Highway 6 in the bloody snow. I sure hope no one I know or have known had the night shift last night. Bloody lake effect. Now I can see why they doubled Toronto for Chicago in Dresden, and said one of their reasons was "The same lousy winter weather'. It couldn't be a nastier winter if I was in Canada. Temperature, up, temperature down, dump a clusterfuck of snow down on us and pray we can dig our way out. Blllllleeeeeeh.
I've driven home through four blizzards this year. I had my lucky charm, The Black Parade, on all four times. It, and Tabby, funny enough, were probably the only things that kept me from careening off the road that night in what? '06 or early '07? She kept me calm until we reached her place, and the album kept me focused enough to get home. Since then, I've played it whenever the weather's been bad. Haven't spun the car into a ditch in a snowstorm since. Sometimes I wonder when I'm gonna lose favor with the Gods and the charm will no longer work. When it does, I'll probably turn a 360 in my Jazz and get blindsided by an Optimus Prime (I just saw Transformers and it owns.) Since the awful night of the Superbowl, though, this year, I've been calmer in snow, too.
The snow, it can stop, though.
It's juuuuuust peachy, too, that the sale I was going to go to at the beginning of March doesn't have any more booths. I had to be sure I hade enough stuff to even show, since Christmas cleaned me the Hell out of most of my merch. As soon as I get my inventory up enough to be confident of a good sale, it's "no, sorry, no more booths, but we are setting up a tent outside with more vendors." Yar. Like anyone is going to walk into that in the 30 bloody below. Sure. I've been working myself pertty hard, and the only cash for my work I'm going to see in the forseeable future is those bridesmaids gifts for my cousin's wedding.
Maybe it's time to take a break. Read, write, draw, do things I haven't in a while.
