My Fourth of July weekend was beautiful. Summer, American indulgence.

Saturday was Free Comic Books Day. We went to Pop to collect said items, stopped at a cafe for ice water and sat around reading said items. Chakraoffish had to go to work, unfortunately. Pseudomammal and I did some errands and got in some time at the marine aquarium (a little frustrating ... I hate being surrounded by my former glory ... but so awesome, too) before heading to the coffee house to get some work done (amidst candle light and slam poetry reading ... there was one poem about Transformers). Sweet.

On the day itself, Chakraoffish and Pseudomammal and I biked to Siesta Village. I wore beach-trashy red and blue clothes, we ate trashy food (Slurpees! Burgers!). We biked and biked and walked and walked along the riotously crowded powdered-sand beach and we told rounds of childhood vomiting stories (c'mon, everyone has a few really great ones) and played Frisbee and tried (and failed) to juggle rings ... and were rewarded with a hot orange sunset and then vivid, colorful display of fireworks set strikingly against a backdrop of massive purple thunderheads with coursing chains of cloud-to-cloud-to-cloud-to-ocean lightning. It went on for hours. It was gorgeous and thrilling.

Pseudomammal and I pulled a gratuitous all-nighter last night, just because we could. We went all-out with grape soda and peanut stirfry and cheap quad mochas and even though my brain feels like pudding, we got a staggering amount of coding and administration done ... and in the glaring light of morning, all of it works. And yes, I went in to the office today. Because I am hardcore.
